Sustainability Management Policy and Structure

MRI Group Sustainability Management

The MRI Group aims to create social value and overcome the challenges facing society through its business operations, with the goal of creating a prosperous and sustainable world as it enters an era with a global population of 10 billion and lifespans of 100 years.

To achieve this, we will tackle the challenges facing society while expanding and operating a cycle of three key types of value: social value, non-financial value, and financial value. We seek to create and improve social value by resolving societal issues through our business activities. In order to do so, it will be necessary to increase the Group's non-financial value. We will achieve this by enhancing (1) our societal issue solution capabilities, which are the source of our competitiveness, and (2) ESG, the foundation for society's trust in us. While seeking to improve financial value as the source of growth and the starting point for a positive cycle to enable these enhancements, we will continue to invest funds from the sales and profits brought about by social value and non-financial value into further growth.

The sustainability of both society and the Group itself, growing sustainably together through this cycle, is the essence of the sustainability management that the Group aims to achieve.

Sustainability Promotion Structure

The sustainability concept forms the foundation of the Group's management activities. In April 2022, we clarified responsibility for promoting sustainability by establishing two key sustainability-related positions: Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), a role which is held by the President, and Sustainability Management Officer, a role which is held by the General Manager of the Corporate Administration Unit. The formulation and management of plans for sustainability activities, material issues, and goals relating to non-financial value and social value is handled by the Sustainable Management Office, which was established within the Corporate Planning Division in September 2021. Matters for deliberation and decision making are proposed by the head of the Corporate Planning Division before being approved by the Sustainability Management Officer, the CSO, and Management Strategy Committee. Final decisions are then made by the Executive Committee.
