Hanoi, August 25, 2022—Mitsubishi Research Institute, Inc. (MRI) held a seminar on tackling Vietnam's societal issues through business innovation at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi hotel.
Vietnam aims for high quality growth, with government targets set over the next 20 years. MRI sees a positive role for Japanese companies to contribute to an enhanced Vietnamese competitiveness, pioneering the country's high-quality growth.

In his opening remarks, MRI President Kenji Yabuta described how, “Starting with the relocation of our Hanoi office, we would like to accelerate our efforts to conceive and implement projects that focus on societal issues in Vietnam more than ever before and create a source of growth for Vietnamese and Japanese companies for the next 20 years.”.

The seminar went on to highlight the potential for businesses addressing societal issues in Vietnam for an audience represented by government officials and business persons from Vietnam and Japan. Presentations honed in on the potential for innovation across a wide range of fields such as healthcare and the environment. MRI hopes to set off a larger movement, among multifarious stakeholders, to resolve societal issues through innovation and business.
Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, on behalf of the guests, expressed his high expectations for MRI's business development in Vietnam saying, “FIA would like to build a new win-win relationship between Japan and Vietnam by working with MRI to resolve Vietnam's societal issues and attract investment from Japan to create a new generation.”.

The 60 participants included leaders from the FIA, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, officials from local government, and representatives from Japanese companies operating in Vietnam. The event came to a close with exchange of ideas among members on resolving societal issues with business in Vietnam.
